About Me

I was born and raised in Ayrshire, Scotland.  My career led me into science and academia, whilst caring for my family. I now dedicate my passion to art in the hope that creativity leads me to my authentic self.

My work as a scientist has taught me a lot about exploring significance, especially on the lived experiences of vulnerable people and our collective hardships faced through technological impact, social isolation, and health inequalities.  I have felt this too in my personal life, as my son was diagnosed with a life-threatening condition, known as type 1 diabetes, from a very young age.  Constant striving, focusing on "doing", rather than "being" led me to experience burnout as so many of us do.  The burnout has been a gift which helped me reframe this dominance towards more self-care.  Many teachings are infused into my art practice, some of which are founded in mindfulness and compassion.  Be it a walk in nature, or a remembrance of loving-kindness, I try to express that even though the illusion of this world has us feeling alone, it is never so.  I advocate for healing and recovery from the abuse we sometimes find ourselves part of, and hope that someday, someone will view my artwork as a representation of transforming our dark experiences into a purpose driving us towards light and love.
